What is impermanence?

Impermanence is the fact that even when we are in good health and good fortune, we have no guarantee this will continue, and this can be very anxiety-provoking.Death is just the most extreme form of impermanence.

To accept impermanence, Buddhism advises letting go of attachment. But first, it's important to understand what this means. It in no way implies giving up on pleasure, but on the contrary, to fully live the present moment, so as not to become a slave to the need for it to be repeated. Attachment is the need for things to stay exactly the same in order for a person to feel complete and fulfilled... because they have not managed to experience them fully. This clarifies the complementary meaning to give our advice 'Mastering pleasure' in the context of the questionHow to succeed in life?'.

The importance of fully living the present is also found in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), of which it is axis 4.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT in English) specifically addresses this fourth axis of 'here and now' by training us to stably focus our attention on present sensations. However, we would like to point out that focusing exclusively on present sensations can become a form of avoidance of our negative emotions, much like allowing our smartphone to monopolize our attention. For example, axis 1 of ACT, through meditation practice, seems to us to be an essential complement.
